2008 and ODBC driver issue?

description

I have successfully migrated SQL 2012 DBs using SQLAzureMW v5.15.6 Release Binary for SQL Server 2014

However, I now need to migrate a SQL 2008 R2 DBs and I am running into problems???

Pre Requisites

I have installed SQL2008_SharedManagementObjects, SQL2008_SysClrTypes, msodbcsql (ODBC Driver 11)

I can see both ODBC Driver 11 and ODBC Driver 13 in the Drivers Tab of ODBC Administrator (on my Win 10 x64 laptop)

Issue

Using SQLAzureMW v3.15.6 Release Binary for SQL Server 2008 I am attaching to the source DB and starting the wizard. For each table it generates the following error...

Result Summary

Process started at 1/5/2017 5:07:17 PM -- UTC -> 1/5/2017 5:07:17 PM ...
Using BCP to get data from table [dbo].[tbAddressType]
bcp.exe "[AFFINITYWATER].[dbo].[tbAddressType]" out "c:\SQLAzureMW\BCPData\dbo.tbAddressType.dat" -E -n -C RAW -S 10.168.245.199 -U "" -P ""
*
SQLState = 37000, NativeError = 2812
Error = [Microsoft][ODBC Driver 13 for SQL Server][SQL Server]Could not find stored procedure 'sp_describe_first_result_set'.

Problem

Apparently it ignores the ODBC 11 Driver?

Resolution

Any ideas greatly appreciated?

Hi,

You need SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 or greater to migrate. So be sure to add SP1 and you should be good to go.
