Index Out of Bounds Error for SQL Azure Connections...

description

Getting an "Index Out of Bounds" error when I attempt to connect to a basic SQL Azure database... Not sure what the error is.

If there are issues with the connection string, then the UI tooling should guide users rather then leave them to their own devices with cryptic error messages.

Issue existed in previous release as well. See attached for my notes.

In July, SQL Azure upgraded the servers (for more info see: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/windowsazure/archive/2011/07/13/announcing-sql-azure-july-2011-service-release.aspx). These changes require that any program using SMO run on SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1. So, you need to download SP1 and you should be ok. You can download SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=26727

If you still have issues after installing SP1, let me know.

George
